How do I convert Base64 to an image?

Paste the Base64 text, with or without the data:image/…;base64, prefix. The converter detects the image type from the data itself, shows a preview, and lets you download it as a normal image file.

It works with PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, AVIF, BMP, SVG and ICO images. Line breaks, spaces and URL-safe Base64 are handled automatically. Decoding happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

How it works

  1. Paste the Base64

Paste a Base64 string or a full data URI into the box.

  2. Check the preview

The image type and size are detected automatically.

  3. Download

Save the image with the right file extension.

Questions

Do I need the data:image prefix?

No. You can paste plain Base64 or a full data URI. The image type is detected from the data.

Why won't my Base64 decode?

The text may be cut off or contain characters that aren't Base64. Make sure you copied the whole string. Spaces and line breaks are fine.

Which image formats are supported?

PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, AVIF, BMP, SVG and ICO.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. Decoding happens in your browser.
