If your Vimeo link doesn't work

"Needs a login" or "password". The owner has made it private, password protected or members only. Those videos can't be downloaded.
Showcase or album link. Paste the link of a single video (vimeo.com/<number>), not a showcase, channel or album page.
Embedded on another website. Right-click the player on that site to copy the Vimeo link, or find the video on vimeo.com. Some embeds are restricted to one website and won't work.

Saving on iPhone, Android or a computer

iPhone and iPad. In the Vimeo app, tap Share and Copy link, then paste it here in Safari. After tapping MP4, Safari keeps the file in Files, in the Downloads folder. Open it and use Share, then Save Video to add it to Photos.
Android. Copy the link in the Vimeo app, paste it here in Chrome and tap MP4. The file goes to the Downloads folder and shows up in your gallery or Files app.
Windows, Mac and Linux. Copy the address from the browser bar or the post's share menu, paste it here and save the file. It lands in your usual Downloads folder.

MP4 or MP3: which to pick

Choose MP4 to keep the picture and sound. Higher resolutions look sharper but make bigger files; 720p is plenty for phones and chat apps. Choose MP3 when you only need the audio, such as a talk, a song or a podcast clip. MP3 files are much smaller and play on almost any device.

After you download

Compress the video to make it smaller for WhatsApp, Discord or email.
Trim the video to keep only the part you need.
Turn it into a GIF for chats and slides.
Convert it to WebM, MOV or another format.
Extract the audio from an MP4 you already saved.

About Vimeo downloads

Many Vimeo videos are public but have downloads turned off on the Vimeo page. When the video is public, you can save it here as MP4 for offline viewing, or as MP3 for talks and podcasts.

Vimeo streams in several resolutions, often up to 1080p and sometimes 4K. The buttons list the heights available for that video. Larger resolutions take longer to prepare and can go over the 250 MB limit for long videos.

The owner limited who can watch it. Only videos anyone can watch without signing in can be downloaded.

No. Paid rentals and purchases are protected and can't be saved.

Is 4K Vimeo download supported?

Yes when the video offers 4K and the file stays under 250 MB. For longer 4K videos, choose 1080p.
