How do I sign a PDF online?

Add your PDF, then create a signature: draw it with your mouse or finger, type your name in a handwriting style, or upload a photo of your signature. Go to the right page, click Place on page, then drag the signature where it belongs and resize it with the corner handle. You can place several signatures, initials and the date on different pages.

This adds a visible signature image, which is what most forms, letters and contracts ask for. It isn't a certificate-based digital signature. Everything happens in your browser, so your PDF is never uploaded.

Questions

Is a signature added this way legally valid?

In many countries, an electronic signature like this is accepted for everyday agreements, but rules vary and some documents need a certified digital signature or a wet signature. Check with whoever asked you to sign.

Is my document uploaded?

No. Signing happens in your browser, so the PDF stays on your device.

Can I sign on my phone?

Yes. Draw your signature with your finger, then drag it into place on the page.

How do I get a transparent signature image?

Use Draw or Type: they're saved with a transparent background. For a photo of your signature, sign in dark ink on white paper; the white area will show, so crop it tightly.
