What is a QR code generator?

A QR code generator turns information such as a web address, Wi-Fi password or phone number into a square barcode that any phone camera can scan. SaveForMeNow's QR code generator is free, needs no account, and makes static QR codes: the information is stored inside the code itself, so it keeps working forever and nobody can switch it off.

Everything happens in your browser. What you type is never sent to our server, which makes it safe for Wi-Fi passwords and private contact details.

How it works

  1. Choose what to share

Pick a link, Wi-Fi network, text, email, phone number, SMS or contact card.

  2. Fill in the details

The QR code updates as you type. Change the colours, size and error correction if you like.

  3. Download and test

Save it as PNG for screens and print, or SVG for logos and large prints. Scan it with your phone before sharing.

Questions

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes. There's no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many QR codes you make, and you can use them commercially.

Do the QR codes expire?

No. These are static QR codes, so the information is stored inside the code itself. They keep working as long as the link or details inside them are still valid.

Can I change where a QR code points after printing it?

Not with a static QR code, because the link is stored inside it. If you might change the destination later, make the QR code from a short link and keep the long link somewhere you control.

PNG or SVG: which should I download?

PNG works everywhere, including Word, Canva and social media. SVG is a vector file that stays sharp at any size, so it's best for printing on posters, packaging and signs.

What does error correction mean?

It lets a QR code still scan when part of it is dirty, scratched or covered. Medium (15%) suits most uses. Choose High (30%) for printed codes that may get damaged.

How do I make a Wi-Fi QR code?

Choose Wi-Fi, type the network name and password, and pick the security type (usually WPA/WPA2). Guests scan the code and join without typing the password.

Why won't my QR code scan?

The most common causes are low contrast, light-coloured codes on a dark background, or printing too small. Keep the code dark on a light background and at least 2 cm (0.8 in) wide.
