How do I convert between metric and imperial units?
Pick a measurement such as Length or Weight, type a value and choose the units to convert from and to. The answer appears straight away, and the table on the right shows the same value in every other unit, so you can read cm, metres, inches, feet and miles in one look. The exact factors are used: 1 inch is 2.54 cm, 1 pound is 0.45359237 kg and 1 US gallon is 3.785411784 litres.
Temperature isn't a simple multiplication: °F = °C × 9 ÷ 5 + 32, and K = °C + 273.15. Data sizes are shown in both decimal units (1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes, used by drive makers) and binary units (1 MiB = 1,048,576 bytes, used by some operating systems). Everything happens in your browser, so nothing you type is sent to our server.

5 feet is 60 inches, plus 8 is 68 inches, and 68 × 2.54 = 172.72 cm.
