Remove watermark from photo

How do I remove a watermark from a photo?

Add your photo and press Find watermark automatically: an AI text detector (PP-OCR) marks every watermark, date stamp and caption it can see in red. Check the marks, erase any you want to keep, and press Remove. For logos and other marks without text, paint over them with the brush instead.

When you paint over a watermark, text or object with the brush and let go, an AI model (MI-GAN) looks at the surrounding pixels and fills the painted area so it blends in. Anything you didn't paint stays exactly as it was. If a faint outline is left, paint over it again; each pass improves the result, and Undo takes you back a step.

It works best on small marks over simple backgrounds like sky, walls, grass, skin or fabric. Large watermarks across faces or detailed patterns are harder, because the AI has to invent what was underneath. Everything happens in your browser, so your files are never uploaded. The first time, your browser downloads the model (about 40 MB); after that it's cached.

Use it on your own photos, or photos you have permission to edit: old scans with date stamps, product shots with a stray logo, or holiday pictures with a passer-by. Removing a photographer's or stock agency's watermark from an image you haven't licensed can break copyright law.

Is it free?

Can it find the watermark automatically?

Yes, for text watermarks, date stamps and captions. Press Find watermark automatically, check the red marks, then remove them. Logos made of pictures rather than letters need to be painted over by hand.

Can it remove date stamps from old photos?

Yes. Date stamps are small and usually sit on a simple area, which gives clean results.

Can it remove text or emojis from a picture?

Yes. Paint over the text or sticker and it's filled in to match the background.

Why is there a smudge where the watermark was?

The AI has to guess what was underneath. Paint over the smudge again, or use a slightly bigger brush so the whole mark and its edges are covered.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser, and your photo never leaves your device.

What size can my photo be?

Any size you can open. Photos larger than 4000 pixels on the longest side are reduced to 4000 pixels.
