How do I find the dimensions of an image?

An image's dimensions are its width and height in pixels, such as 1920 × 1080. Drop one or more images here and the checker shows the dimensions of each, along with the aspect ratio (for example 16:9), the number of megapixels, whether it's landscape, portrait or square, and the file size.

It reads the size the way the image is displayed, so phone photos that are stored sideways are reported the right way round. Everything happens in your browser, so your images are never uploaded.

Questions

What's the difference between image dimensions and file size?

Dimensions are the width and height in pixels. File size is how much storage the file uses, in KB or MB. A large image can have a small file size if it's well compressed.

How many megapixels is my photo?

Multiply the width by the height and divide by one million. A 4000 × 3000 photo is 12 megapixels. The checker does this for you.

What does aspect ratio mean?

It's the shape of the image, written as width:height. 1920 × 1080 is 16:9, a widescreen shape. 1080 × 1080 is 1:1, a square.

Can I check many images at once?

Yes. Add as many as you like and download the results as a CSV spreadsheet.
