What is a favicon?
A favicon is the small icon shown in browser tabs, bookmarks, search results and on phone home screens when someone saves your site. Modern sites need several sizes: a favicon.ico for browsers, 16 and 32 pixel PNGs, a 180 pixel Apple touch icon for iPhones and iPads, and 192 and 512 pixel icons for Android and web apps.
This generator makes all of them from one logo (PNG, SVG, JPG or WebP), or from one to three letters or an emoji on a coloured background. You get a ZIP with every file, a site.webmanifest and the exact HTML to paste into your site's <head>. Everything happens in your browser, so your images are never uploaded.

Questions
What size should a favicon be?
Provide several: a favicon.ico with 16, 32 and 48 px images, 32 px and 16 px PNGs, a 180 px Apple touch icon, and 192 px and 512 px icons for Android. This generator makes all of them.
Do I still need favicon.ico?
Yes. Some browsers, feed readers and tools still request /favicon.ico directly, and Google Search can use it. Keep it alongside the PNG icons.
Can I use an SVG favicon?
Yes. If you upload an SVG it's included as favicon.svg, which modern browsers show crisply at any size. The PNG and ICO files cover every other browser.
How do I add the favicon to my website?
Upload every file to the root folder of your site, then paste the link tags from the download into the <head> of your pages. On WordPress, you can also set a Site Icon under Appearance > Customize.
Why doesn't my new favicon show up?
Browsers cache favicons for a long time. Open the site in a private window, or clear the cache, to see the new one.
