How do I calculate a percentage?
To find X% of a number, multiply the number by X and divide by 100: 15% of 200 is 200 × 15 ÷ 100 = 30. To find what percent one number is of another, divide and multiply by 100: 30 out of 120 is 30 ÷ 120 × 100 = 25%. Percentage change is the difference divided by the starting value: from 80 to 100 is (100 − 80) ÷ 80 × 100 = +25%.
To add a percentage, multiply by 1 plus the percent: 50 plus 20% is 50 × 1.2 = 60. To take it off, multiply by 1 minus the percent: 50 minus 20% is 50 × 0.8 = 40. This calculator does all four at once and updates as you type. Everything happens in your browser, so nothing you type is sent to our server.
