What size is a YouTube thumbnail?

YouTube thumbnails should be 1280 × 720 pixels (a 16:9 shape) and no larger than 2 MB, in JPG, PNG or GIF. This tool resizes any image to exactly 1280 × 720, cropping the edges if the shape doesn't match, and saves a JPG under 2 MB.

Keep important text and faces away from the bottom-right corner, where YouTube shows the video length. Everything happens in your browser, so your files are never uploaded.
