How do I convert a PDF to Excel?

Add the PDF and choose whether you want every page in one sheet or one sheet per page. The converter reads the text on each page, groups words that sit on the same line into rows, and lines them up into columns by where they start on the page, which is how tables in invoices, bank statements, price lists and reports are laid out. Amounts such as 1,234.50, (75.00) and 12% become real numbers, so SUM and sorting work straight away in Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers.

Scanned PDFs are pictures of pages with no text inside, so there's nothing to convert; use Image to text (OCR) for those. Password-protected PDFs need to be unlocked first. Everything happens in your browser, so your documents are never uploaded.

How it works

  1. Add a PDF

Invoices, statements, reports and price lists work best.

  2. Choose the layout

All pages in one sheet, or one sheet per page.

  3. Download the .xlsx

Open it in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.

Questions

Is PDF to Excel free?

Yes, with no sign-up, page limit or watermark.

Will the columns line up?

Tables with clear columns, like invoices and statements, line up well. Text in free paragraphs ends up in the first column. Check merged cells and totals after converting.

Are numbers kept as numbers?

Yes, when the option is on: 1,234.50 becomes 1234.5, (12) becomes -12 and 45% becomes 0.45. Codes with leading zeros, like 00123, stay as text.

Can I convert a scanned PDF to Excel?

Not directly: scans hold pictures, not text. Save the pages with PDF to JPG, read them with Image to text (OCR), then paste into Excel.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. It's read and converted in your browser.
