Compress an image to 20 KB

Shrink a photo or signature scan under 20 KB, the limit used by many online forms. The target is already set.

or drop files here · you can also paste with Ctrl+V

Your images never leave this device. Everything runs in your browser.

How do I compress an image to 20 KB?

Add your image and click Compress. The target is already set to 20 KB, so the tool looks for the highest quality that fits under it. If the image still can't fit at a good quality, its width and height are reduced step by step until it does, and the new size is shown next to the file.

20 KB limits usually apply to signatures and small ID photos on application forms. Signatures compress very well because they're mostly white; for photos, crop tightly and expect the tool to reduce the dimensions.

You can change the target in the options, or compress up to 50 images at once and download them as a ZIP. Everything happens in your browser, so your files are never uploaded.

Questions

How do I get a signature under 20 KB?

Scan or photograph it on white paper, crop close to the signature, then compress here. JPG usually gives the smallest file for scans.

The form says 10–20 KB. Will this work?

Yes. The result is just under 20 KB. If it must be above 10 KB, it almost always is.
