Convert JPG to WebP

Turn JPG and PNG images into WebP, usually 25–35% smaller at the same quality.

or drop files here · you can also paste with Ctrl+V

Your images never leave this device. Everything runs in your browser.

Why convert JPG to WebP?

WebP images are usually 25–35% smaller than JPGs of the same visual quality, which makes web pages load faster. Every current browser shows WebP. Add your JPG or PNG images and they're converted to WebP, keeping transparency from PNGs.

In our own test, a 4000 × 2250 photo compressed to 671 KB as JPG and 358 KB as WebP at the same Recommended level. Everything happens in your browser, so your files are never uploaded.

Questions

Is WebP supported everywhere?

In all current browsers, yes. Some older desktop apps and email programs don't open it, so keep JPGs for email.

Should I use WebP or AVIF?

AVIF is smaller still, but slower to create and not supported by some older software. WebP is the safe choice for most websites.

Does WebP keep transparency?

Yes, transparent PNGs stay transparent.
