Tool for this guide: Edit PDF
Short answer: open Edit PDF, add the file, pick Text, Tick, Cross, Date or White box, and click where it should go. Type in the box on the left, drag it into place and press Save PDF. Forms with fillable fields are listed on the left, ready to fill in.
What you can do
| Tool | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Text | Names, addresses, answers, notes, any language |
| Tick ✓ / Cross ✗ | Checkboxes on printed-style forms |
| Date | Today's date in one click, editable |
| White box | Covering old text or mistakes |
| Form fields | Fillable PDF forms: type answers, tick boxes, pick options |
Step by step
- Open Edit PDF and add the PDF.
- Choose a tool and click on the page.
- Type, change the size and colour, and drag each item into place.
- Go to other pages with the arrows.
- Press Save PDF and download.
Nothing is uploaded; the PDF is edited on your device.
Changing text that's already in the PDF
PDFs aren't word-processor files, so the original words can't simply be retyped. Instead:
- Choose White box and cover the old words.
- Choose Text and type the new words on top.
The saved PDF shows only the new text. For big rewrites, convert with PDF to Word, edit, and convert back with Word to PDF.
Fillable forms
If the PDF was made with form fields (most official application and tax forms are), the fields appear on the left. Type the answers, tick the boxes, and choose Lock the answers if you don't want them changed later.
Finish the job
- Sign the PDF with a drawn or typed signature.
- Add page numbers.
- Password-protect it before emailing.
