Open Graph image size and the files every new website needs

Updated 21 October 2026

Tool for this guide: Website asset pack

Short answer: a link preview (Open Graph) image should be 1200 × 630 pixels. The website asset pack generator makes it from your logo, along with favicons, Apple and Android icons, a web manifest and all the HTML head tags.

The tags that make link previews work

The generator writes all of these for you.

WordPress, Shopify and Wix

You don't edit HTML there. Upload the favicon as the Site Icon and the 1200 × 630 image in the social sharing or SEO settings. The rest is handled by the platform.

Questions

Why doesn't my new image show when I share the link?

Social networks cache previews. Use the platform's sharing debugger to refresh it, or add ?v=2 to the link when testing.

How is this different from the favicon generator?

The favicon generator makes only icons. The asset pack adds the link preview image, logo PNGs, social images and full meta tags. For SEO image sizes, see the SEO image pack.
