How to split a PDF or extract pages
Updated 21 October 2026
Tool for this guide: Split PDF
Short answer: open split PDF, add the PDF, choose Pick pages and type the pages you want, for example 1-3, 5, 8-10. They're saved as one new PDF in that order.
Three ways to split
| Mode | What you get | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Pick pages | One new PDF with the pages you type | 2, 4-6 |
| Every page | Each page as its own PDF, in a ZIP | A 10-page PDF becomes 10 files |
| Every N pages | Equal parts | Every 5 pages |
Writing page ranges
| You type | Pages |
|---|---|
4 | Just page 4 |
1-3 | Pages 1, 2 and 3 |
8- | Page 8 to the end |
3, 1, 2 | Page 3 first, then 1 and 2 |
1-3, 5, 8-10 | Pages 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 9, 10 |
Step by step
- Open split PDF and add one PDF.
- Use the page previews to find the pages you need.
- Choose a mode and type ranges if needed.
- Download the new PDF, or a ZIP of several.
Everything happens in your browser, so your PDF is never uploaded.
Related tasks
