Tool for this guide: Text to speech
Short answer: paste your text into text to speech, choose a voice in the right language and press Read aloud. Pause, resume or stop at any time, and change the speed and pitch.
Good uses
- Proofreading: hearing your writing read back catches missing words and clumsy sentences.
- Studying: listen to notes and articles while walking or commuting.
- Learning languages: hear how words are pronounced, at a slower speed.
- Reading support: helpful for dyslexia, tired eyes and low vision.
Step by step
- Open text to speech and paste your text.
- Pick a voice. Voices are grouped by language code, such as
en-GB,es-ESorhi-IN. - Set the speed (0.5× to 2×) and pitch.
- Press Read aloud. Use Pause and Stop as needed.
The voices are built into your device, so your text never leaves it.
